ROSTI – FROM BACKROOM TO INTERNATIONAL COMPANY

The story of Rosti begins in the early 1940s, when a two-kroner loan became the beginning of a lifelong partnership and friendship. In 1944 during World War II. During World War II, Rolf Fahrenholtz and Stig Jørgensen together with the company Rosti. During and after the occupation, there was a shortage of many materials, and after first producing in bakelite, Rosti began to experiment with melamine plastic from the USA for the manufacture of die-cast tableware and kitchenware. Production was kick-started, and Rosti received his largest order to date when the Armed Forces spotted the material's extraordinarily large shelf life and ordered plates for the meals. In the 1950s, Rosti was the only company in Denmark that produced in melamine.
